Garrelts Again James Beard Nominee

Congratulations to bluestem Chef /Owner Colby Garrelts for once again being nominated for ”Best Chef Midwest” by the James Beard Foundation. Deemed “the Oscars of the food world” by Time Magazine, the James Beard Foundation Awards are the country’s most coveted for chefs; food and beverage professionals; broadcast media, journalists, and authors working on food; and restaurant architects and designers. Garrelts was also a nominee in 2007 and 2008. The awards ceremony takes place May 9 in New York City.
Garrelts and his wife, co-owner and pastry chef, Megan, just celebrated the fifth anniversary of the opening of bluestem. The young chefs have garnered numerous other accolades during their first five years including the Top Zagat rating for 2005-2008 and “Americas Best New Chef” award sponsored by Food and Wine Magazine.
