KC is not just BBQ
Kansas City’s secret is getting out. The recent issue of Texas Journey Magazine touts our town as the “Paris of the Plains”. The writer was completely surprised that she could eat something besides great BBQ. A couple of places she did discover were La Bodega and bluestem.

Garrelts a JBF Semi-finalist
Colby Garrelts, the Chef /Owner of bluestem, is on the semi-finalist list for the prestigious James Beard Foundation’s 2010 “Best Chef Midwest”.
The awards will be handed out in May in New York. Congratulations Colby and Megan!

Zagat Honors KC
The 2010 Zagat Survey results have been announced and several KansasCityMenus restaurants are again at the head of the list. “Top food ranking” honors go to bluestem. Also receiving high marks are Le Fou Frog, Tatsu’s and 1924 Main. It is no surprise to us that locally owned establishments are at the top of the list.

bluestem at Broadmoor Bistro
Colby and Megan Garrelts of bluestem are teaming up with the culinary students of the Broadmoor Bistro for a fantastic dinner benefiting the James Beard Scholarship Fund. The Garrelts will be producing bluestem recipes with the students in the Broadmoor kitchen. The up and coming young chefs will not only prepare the five course meal but also serve the guests.
