Try a pig on the patio or George Washington on the deck....

Looking beyond Mother’s Day for a fun eating out occasion? Definitely mark May 27th on your calendar and help Story celebrate their one year anniversary with a pig roast on the patio in Prairie Village. Check the restaurant’s website (http://www.storykc.com/events/) for information on this and other upcomng events.

Each month Cafe Trio challenges the bartenders to come up with a special concoction to be chosen for the cocktail of the month. The winner for May is bartender Kenny Cohrs and his creation, “The George Washington”. Kenny started with Grey Goose Cherry Noir Vodka and added Cherry Herring liquer, a splash of Whiskey Barrel bitters and Trio’s own agave syrup and Grenadine.

Happy Spring Dining,

After 8 1/2 years of proudly promoting Kansas City's independent restaurants, we will no longer be selling our discount gift certificates.

After 8 1/2 years of proudly promoting Kansas City’s locally owned restaurants, we decided to close our “doors” and stop selling gift certificates as of December 31, 2011. We will keep KansasCityMenus online and our office open until June 30, 2012, to provide service during the period of time that the most recently sold gift certificates are available for redemption. You will still be able to check out restaurant menus and happenings on our Blog through the end of June.

My stepson partners, Nate and Mike Schmidt, were recently chosen from hundreds of applicants for TechStars, a prestigious Seattle tech mentoring program. Their innovative concept, DealCoop.com (http://dealcoop.com), provides local publishers and organizations who have large email lists or a large online audience, with the tools to create and be successful at daily deal marketing. They will now be focusing all their energy in that direction.

I have lived through many exciting openings and sad closings. I have loved the relationships with the restaurateurs and all of you, many who have been our loyal customers since we first appeared online in 2003.

Thank you for giving our small, family business the vote of confidence when we began designing websites, created a strong Internet presence for locally owned restaurants and first brought the discount gift certificate concept to Kansas City.

Happy Dining,

Jeanie Cerne Schmidt
